Result: Richards Bay 0-0 TS Galaxy

Date: 18 September 2022

Venue: King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium

Richards Bay made two changes to the side that beat Royal AM, as Luvuyo Memela and Mpho Mathebula were recalled.

Meanwhile, Galaxy gave Vuyo Mere his first start of the season, alongside a recall for Xola Mlambo, following their defeat against Orlando Pirates.

The game got off to a lively start and Somila Ntsundwana had a chance to give the visitors the lead on 18 minutes with a header in the six-yard box that missed narrowly wide after a cross by Mamela.

The hosts applied more pressure going forward and Memela had the first shot on target ten minutes before the half-time break that forced a save out of goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi.

The Natal Rich Boyz continued to shade the contest in the closing phase of the first stanza as Mathebula also came close with a strike from the edge of the box that missed narrowly wide.

Sead Ramovic looked for solutions from the bench around the hour-mark as Keletso Makgalwa replaced Lindokuhle Mbatha upfront and with the midfield battle getting fierce ten minutes later, Ramovic brought on Masilakhe Phohlongo in place of Mlambo for fresh legs.

With the Rockets on the ascendancy, Bay were conservative in the closing stages with their changes, as Ntsundwana made way for Yamela Mbuthuma.

However, Siyanda Msani had a chance to steal all the three points for Richards Bay in the last four minutes with a strike from outside the box but his effort smothered by Buthelezi, as the two sides settled for a share of the spoils.

Here's how they lined up:

Richards Bay: Magoola, Maphathe, Mabua, Mcineka, Nyauza, Mabaso, Barns, Mathebula, Ntsundwana, Memela, Msani

Subs: Jacobs, Mthethwa, Majadibodu, Mthembu, Mdabuka, Makateng, Mbuthuma, Zungu, Mlhongo

TS Galaxy: Buthelezi, Sanoka, Nyama, Msimango, Mere, Mbatha, Mlambo, Aubaas, Parker, Mbunjana, Teto

Subs: Kolak, S. Mahlangu, Mongae, Phohlongo, Makgalwa, M. Mahlangu, Traore, Seema, Sebelebele
