R118m Spent: The Dizzying Numbers In The PSL

A recent report by world football governing body FIFA highlighted the dizzying numbers spent by some of the clubs in the Betway Premiership during the current transfer window.

Money has - and continues to be - a hoodoo topic, particularly in the local game.

Unlike the European counterparts who disclose a number of details about transfer details, more often than not fees included, transfers in the PSL are a bit more of a mystery.

Therefore it was interesting when FIFA, according to it's latest transfer reports, indicated that a massive $6.64 million (R118 million) was spent by local clubs in the recent transfer window.

To put this into perspective, that figure is dwarfed by the $2.94 million (R52.4 million) that was received in transfer fees during this period.

Ahead of the new Betway Premiership season, a number of big-name players have been roped in.

The likes of Arthur Sales, Gilberto, Inacio Miguel were amongst the players roped in by the 'Big 3'.

While the likes of Shandre Campbell, Khanyisa Mayo, Elias Mokwana were amongst the notable departures from the league.
