The PSL is expected to officially confirm the date for the 2024/25 season Awards Ceremony in the coming days.
This long-anticipated announcement comes after months of speculation, with the ceremony having been postponed due to Mamelodi Sundowns’ historic involvement in both the CAF Champions League final and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

In May, the PSL issued a statement on its official website explaining the delay:
“In recent seasons, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Awards Ceremony has traditionally been held during the month of June. However, due to Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club’s participation in both the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2024/25 CAF Champions League Final, the League has taken the decision to postpone this season’s PSL Awards Ceremony. The PSL, its Member Clubs, and all stakeholders in professional football across the country are united in their support for Mamelodi Sundowns as they fly the flag for South African football at these prestigious events. The League will communicate the new date and further details of the Awards Ceremony in due course.”
With Sundowns having now completed their continental and international commitments, insiders suggest the League is finalising arrangements for the new Awards Ceremony date, which could be revealed as early as this week.
Meanwhile, key details about the upcoming 2025/26 season have surfaced via a leaked internal circular (NSL Circular No. 124/2025), dated 30 June 2025 and distributed to all clubs and executives. The circular confirms that the new season will officially commence on 1 July 2025 and conclude on 30 June 2026.
Further kick-off dates for various competitions have also emerged:
- MTN 8: Weekend of 1 August 2025
- Betway Premiership: Starts 8 August 2025
- Motsepe Foundation Championship: Begins 22 August 2025
- DStv Diski Challenge: Kicks off 6 September 2025
In addition, the 2025/26 winter transfer window is now known to be set for 1 July to 22 September 2025.
The three-month window allows PSL clubs to bolster their squads ahead of what promises to be a highly competitive new campaign.

While no official public communication has yet been made by the League regarding these leaked dates, clubs are already preparing behind the scenes as pre-season begins in earnest.
As anticipation grows, fans across the country are now waiting not only for the return of domestic football but also for the PSL to finally reveal which players, coaches, and teams will be honoured at this season’s long-awaited Awards Ceremony.
