Mabasa: The Difference Between Downs & Pirates

Mabasa: The Difference Between Downs & Pirates

According to him, this mindset sets Sundowns apart from other teams.

"Difference with Sundowns, I think it is the mentality. Once you win a trophy, you just want more as a player and you have to be in a certain mental space. I think with ourselves and Sundowns we have shown that over the last couple of years which is why you see us also doing well, even in Africa. So, you don't want to stop but keep going so that you win more trophies not only for our respective clubs but for the nation as well," Mabasa told the media.

When asked whether Sundowns possess better quality than other league teams, contributing to their superior performance, Mabasa acknowledged the talent present across different teams.

"There is quality but there is a lot of quality within the teams in the country because you find for example (Yanele) Mbuthuma at Richards Bay, (Keletso) Makgalwa doing well at Sekhukhune United. There are a lot of players that we can pinpoint at different clubs. Like I said, the mentality is the most important thing. The mentality that we have in the group is one to keep on fighting. We want success for this club as a big brand. There is a lot of pressure from outside but together as a group we believe we can achieve many more great things. We have already been creating history for this club and so we have to leave a legacy as players," Mabasa concluded.

As Pirates gear up for the crucial match against Sundowns, Mabasa's insights underscore the importance of a winning mentality in football. Both teams are poised to put on a thrilling display, with the desire to not only secure victory but to reinforce their status as PSL title contenders too.
