Orlando Pirates are expected to make a decision in the coming weeks regarding the future of Linda 'Figo' Mntambo as the club appears to have already started making plans for next season.
Despite his lack of regular game-time at the Soweto giants since joining the club from Chippa United in 2018, indications are that the midfielder could be one of the players to be retained beyond the current season.
So far this season, Mntambo has made seven appearances in the league and two in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The contract of the 32-year-old attacking midfielder is set to expire in June, after the Buccaneers exercised their one-year option when the original deal expired last year.
Mntambo's influence in Pirates' dressing room and his unwavering commitment whenever he is given a chance to play for the team is appreciated by the club's hierarchy, according to sources in the know.
"The thing about Mntambo is that he is a good boy and is always positive despite not playing regularly. He always gives his best and doesn't complain and that is what the club like that about him. He is likely to remain in the team beyond this season," said the source.
