Following his disappointing spell with Orlando Pirates, Congolese striker Jean-Marc Makusu is set to leave the Soweto giants.
Makusu joined Pirates in a surprise move in November after the Buccaneers reached an agreement with Democratic Republic of the Congo side AS Vita Club for a season-long loan deal for him.
However, the 29-year-old has struggled for game-time, after making only three substitute appearances in the league under Josef Zinnbauer so far in the 2020/21 season.
As confirmed by sources close to the Buccaneers, the attacker is looking forward to returning home after a decision by the reigning MTN8 champions not to keep him.
"Jean-Marc Makusu is leaving Orlando Pirates and he knows about it already. It's been a disappointing spell for him, but such things happen in football, and he will be taking the positives out of it and move on," said the source.
According to the source, the player will be open to offers to extend his stay in Mzansi with another club, although a decision on his future will be made by AS Vita as he is still contracted to them.
As part of the loan agreement, Pirates had an option to sign Makusu on a permanent deal but have decided against exercising the option after the player failed to impress, as confirmed by the source.
