Sipho Mbule has expressed his delight at being back in the Bafana Bafana fold, with the Orlando Pirates midfielder earning his first national team call-up since 2021.
“I’m happy to be back in the national team. As you all know it’s been a while without wearing national team colours.I’m glad to have worked my way back to the national team now it’s for me to work again to stay here,” he told Pirates’ official website.

The 27-year-old’s recall comes at a crucial stage of South Africa’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, where they face consecutive matches against Lesotho and Nigeria in Bloemfontein.
His inclusion follows the unfortunate injury to Pirates teammate Patrick Masangwanyi, who had to be stretchered off in the 3-0 win over Chippa United on Sunday.
Now affectionately dubbed ‘The Master Chef’ for his flair and vision in midfield, Mbule has quickly adapted to life at the Buccaneers following his recent move.

His early performances for Ezimnyama have impressed supporters and caught the eye of Bafana coach Hugo Broos, who has rewarded him with a place in the squad for this decisive international window.
“We all know how important these two games are for our country. We wanna win both games and qualify for the World Cup,” he added.
