Orlando Pirates have announced signing Oswin Appollis, who becomes arguably their marquee signing in this transfer window.
From September 2024 the Siya crew started reporting how Pirates had overtaken rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the pursuit of the Bafana Bafana star.
The 23-year-old forward, who enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign in the Betway Premiership, was heavily linked with a number of top domestic clubs, including their fierce rivals, as well as interest from abroad.

However, it is the Buccaneers who have won the race for his signature.
Appollis, born in Cape Town, becomes the ninth new arrival at Orlando ahead of the 2025/26 season, as Pirates continue to bolster their squad with intent. He joins a growing list of fresh signings that includes Sipho Mbule, Yanela Mbuthuma, Masindi Nemtajela, Tshepang Moremi, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Tshepo Mashiloane, and Sihle Nduli.
The club made the announcement on Wednesday, with the side signalling their ambition to challenge on all fronts, including the CAF Champions League.
Appollis' rise has been one of the most exciting stories in South African football over the past 18 months.
After helping Polokwane City survive their first season back in the top flight, his performances, combining energy, technical quality and eye for goal, earned him national team call-ups and widespread praise.
With the likes of Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota and Evidence Makgopa already in the squad, Appollis' addition gives the Buccaneers another dynamic attacking option as they look to build a title-winning side.

Pirates will now enter pre-season with serious momentum, having not only retained key players but also added depth and youth across the pitch.
More signings could still be on the horizon as the Soweto giants sharpen their squad for what promises to be a demanding and entertaining 2025/26 campaign.
