Makaab Reveals Plans For Radiopane At Pirates

Makaab Reveals Plans For Radiopane At Pirates

Boitumelo Radiopane of Orlando Pirates during the Betway Premiership 2024/25 match between Orlando Pirates and Chippa United at the Orlando Stadium, Soweto on 18 September 2024

A January transfer window move for an Orlando Pirates striker who is yet to feature this season has been ruled out at this stage, with agent Mike Makaab believing that the young player will be in the team sooner rather than later.

The Buccaneers have Evidence Makgopa and Tshegofatso Mabasa as the main men that coach Jose Riveiro pins his hopes on for goals, but youth product Boitumelo Radiopane is believed to be slowly knocking on the door for a place in the team and it's only a matter of time before it opens.

Makaab has ruled out a move away from Pirates in January, despite the fact that he has made just two substitute appearances, which is a total of 26 minutes on the pitch this season.

The 22-year-old returned from a loan spell at Cape Town Spurs, spending two seasons in the Mother City before going back to his parent club. Since making a return, however, things have not been easy but Makaab has made it clear that they are not considering a move for the player in January.

"No, not at this point. Definitely not at this point," Makaab said to the Siya crew.

"No football player can ever be happy without game time, but it's been a slow deliberate process and I am confident the young man is on the right track. I had a meeting with the football club, probably about two or three weeks go with the chairman, and we discussed a number of things. Boitumelo was one of the players we discussed and I am extremely happy that the club and players are on the same page in terms of the progress. I've got a hunch that we are going to see him sooner than later."

With his clean lifestyle and discipline, Makaab is convinced Radiopane will be able to work his way into the team and play a role as the team looks to win the most coveted title in local football - the Betway Premiership.

"I think Boitumelo was unfortunate. The decision to send him to Cape Town Spurs was the right decision. He hit the ground running and Ernst Middendorp got the best out of him, then there was that horrible tackle. Sadly these things happen in football, but he is young and he is a determined young man. He is an all-round clean professional and it's just a matter of getting back onto the playing field and doing what he does best. He can become a prolific goal scorer, no doubt."
