Riveiro Responds To Questions On His Pirates Future

However, when asked about his future at Pirates, with his contract ending in June this year, Riveiro refrained from delving into specifics.

"We are here to talk about the game on Sunday and not my contract or future. But, well, obviously I can give you a standard answer that is my responsibility, and my mandate is why I'm sitting here, and this is what the club is expecting from me. We are a different type of animal and this what we love. We love to compete and we love to face challenges and know that our professions are going beyond the time that we spent together here on the field for us as the technical staff and players. They are football players for 24 hours and the moment that they don't do it they are not going to be at the level that the system requires. For us as the technical staff, it is the same," Riveiro told the media.

The Spanish-born coach also highlighted the continuous learning opportunities presented by the league in South Africa.

"In my position if you want to improve the team and you want to analyse, learn, and continue studying the game then there is never a time when you say you now know everything. You never stop. We are playing for a big club and there are millions of people whose lives are dependent on what we do on the field. So, there is a lot of components. It is our responsibility and our intention to influence people's lives in a positive way. That is why the complexity of the game will never allow you to say I can apply what I know for the rest of my career. This is a constant opportunity to learn and try to do new things, sometimes taking a risk and sometimes doing what some other people are doing as well," Riveiro concluded.

Pirates are set to host Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Sunday at 15:30 in a top-of-the-table clash.
