Gyimah Advises Rele: Protection & Focus

Relebohile Mofokeng of Orlando Pirates during the Betway Premiership 2024/25 match between Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City at Orlando Stadium, in Soweto on 22 February 2025

In an era where young footballers often rise to prominence quickly, it is crucial for them to stay grounded and focused, and crucial advice has been offered for Relebohile Mofokeng.

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder, Edwin Gyimah, has shared some valuable words of wisdom for the emerging talent, urging him to make the most of his current success while protecting his future.

Gyimah's message to Mofokeng is profound, time is passing, and with success comes responsibility.

Drawing a comparison to the ticking of a clock, Gyimah emphasises that Mofokeng is currently enjoying a moment in the spotlight, but this time is not infinite.

The nature of football is unpredictable, and once that moment passes, it is someone else's turn to shine.

Mofokeng must, therefore, make the most of his current opportunities, according to the experienced Ghanaian who spoke exclusively to Soccer Laduma.

"Becoming a star is not just about what you achieve now," Gyimah explains.

"It's about how you use the time you have and how you protect your future. This boy needs to understand what he carries with him. What he has now is very special, but it needs careful management," he told the Siya crew.

Gyimah stresses the importance of Mofokeng remaining focused on his career, suggesting that the young star should think not only about the present but also about life after football.

"All the things that he is acquiring now are very good. It's very, very good, but he needs full protection. What he needs to do is just to think about football, think about when he's done with football, what he will do in future. He needs to make good use of the time that he is enjoying now. And you know the supporters, it's not everywhere, and it's not all the clubs that have the same kind of supporters like those of Pirates, so he is blessed. You know, for guys like Teko Modise and others it worked, and they are now on television as analysts and doing advertisements, so the boy should remain grounded for opportunities like that to also locate him in future," concluded Gyimah.
