PSL Move Not Off The Table For Fadlu Davids

PSL Move Not Off The Table For Fadlu Davids

Simba SC coach Fadlu Davids

Despite confirming that Fadlu Davids is set to remain at Simba SC for now, the coach’s representative, Rasthoem Simons, has left the door open for a potential return to South African football in the future.

In an exclusive conversation with the Siya crew, Simons praised the growing stature of the PSL and acknowledged that opportunities to coach in Mzansi are held in high regard by the continent’s elite.

“We don't know what the future holds. We had two South African clubs in the semi-final of the Champions League and one in the semi-final of the Confed Cup. It shows the PSL is one of the biggest leagues in Africa. All top coaches on the continent see an opportunity to coach in South Africa as an honour. The door will never be closed,” said Simons.

The remarks come shortly after Simons publicly refuted reports linking Davids with a return to Orlando Pirates, where he previously worked alongside Josef Zinnbauer and Mandla Ncikazi.

While there is currently no immediate move on the cards, Simons’ comments suggest that the former Maritzburg United head coach would not rule out a future return to the PSL – a league he knows well and where his technical abilities have already been on display at the highest level.

Davids has impressed during his time at Tanzanian giants Simba, helping guide the team to domestic success and strong performances in CAF competitions.

As South African football continues to grow in stature and visibility across the continent, the appeal of coaching in the PSL remains strong – especially for those like Davids, who already have a track record of success locally and abroad.

For now, Davids remains focused on his project in Tanzania. But as Simons hints, the possibility of a future reunion with Mzansi football is very much alive.
