An Orlando Pirates star has opened up on a torrid 2019/20 campaign that he describes as one of the worst ever since he started playing professional football.
Having only managed to rack up six appearances the entire season, it comes as no surprise that Pirates' right back Mthokozisi Dube laments his bad luck.
A long-term injury lay-off as well as stern competition from the likes of Abel Mabaso, and young Thabiso Monyane have compounded Dube's misery this season.
The 27-year-old opened up on his woes this season in Soccer Laduma's edition 1179.
"It has not been a good season at all on a personal level, it's very bad. It's one of the worst seasons I had since I started playing football. First of all, I got injured and when you get injured at a team like Orlando Pirates, with a lot of quality players, it's hard to break back into the starting line-up. It's really been a frustrating season for me so far. The first injury I got was in the Carling Black Label Cup, when we played against Kaizer Chiefs. I dislocated my collarbone. It took some time and when I came back to training, I injured it again because it was very fragile at the time so I had to stay out a bit again" Dube said.
However, the former Bloemfontein Celtic man has revealed that he is keeping his head above water and remaining optimistic, despite the bad luck he has faced this season.
"You have to have faith and you have to believe in yourself. It's very challenging. I don't think people understand the kind of environment we are in, things like this challenges your mentality and it's very frustrating, you just have to find something that will keep you going," Dube concluded.
