The agent of new Orlando Pirates signing Nkosinathi Sibisi has confirmed the length of the contract the former Golden Arrows player has signed with the Buccaneers.
The defender was confirmed as a new signing for the Soweto giants along with Tapelo Xoki from AmaZulu. The 26-year-old Sibisi has penned a three-year deal, with an option to extend, the Siya crew has learnt.
It could see the player stay with the Buccaneers until 2027, if they exercise the options in his contract.
"It's a three plus two (year option). I often discuss players with the chairman and I've also got a good relationship with the chairlady Mato. When we speak, we don't speak specifics. When we speak, we speak about where he (Khoza) believes the team needs strengthening and if we have any players who can play the role they are looking for. When he spoke to me about looking for a defender, my immediate response was that he should consider Nkosinathi Sibisi," the player's agent Mike Makaab told the Siya crew.
"He was contracted to Arrows, but I said if he and the chairlady can reach an agreement that is suitable for both clubs, we would be happy to engage on the player's personal terms. It was a long drawn up process, but at the end it happened quickly. Literally, it happened within 72 hours."
Pirates, meanwhile, are still expected to unveil more players in the coming weeks. Eva Nga and Miguel Timm are believed to have already signed for the Buccaneers from Chippa United and Marumo Gallants, respectively, and an announcement is expected to be made soon.
The Soweto giants are also set to part ways with a few more players after ending their relationship with Thulani Hlatshwayo. The likes of Kwanda Mngonyama, Tebogo Tlolane, Collins Makgaka and Terrence Dzvukamanja are believed to be heading out.
As reported by the Siya crew, Xoki formed part of Pirates' shopping list for the July/August transfer window!
