Orlando Pirates secured a Nedbank Cup last-eight berth with a comfortable 3-1 win over Jomo Cosmos on Sunday.

The Buccaneers wasted little time in taking the lead as they found the back of the net in the third minute. A long ball from Rooi Mahamutsa found Tendai Ndoro who headed home easily after some poor positioning from goalkeeper Thabo Modiba.   Pirates were in control of proceedings after the opener, but Cosmos had a good chance at the other end as Maluleke attacked down the left and shot from the angle, forcing a good save from Brighton Mhlongo.   The equaliser arrived somewhat against the run of play. Mashumba was afforded space by the Bucs defence just outside their box and he exploited it by smashing the ball in off the far post with a rocket.   Pirates piled on the pressure as the half wore on and had a chance to restore their lead when a cross from the right was flicked on for Ndoro, but he didn't expect the ball and sent a snap shot over the target.
It looked set to remain level at 1-1 at the break, but in first-half stoppage time Mpho Makola sent a free kick towards the near post where Luvuyo Memela was on hand to head home for the lead.

Eric Tinkler's half-time team-talk seemed to do the trick as Pirates doubled their lead only four minutes into the second half with Ndoro completing his brace.   After the third goal for Pirates, the game calmed down and became sterile as the visitors were content to hold on to their lead, while Ezenkosi couldn't create any real chances.   Mashumba had an opportunity to get a brace of his own in the last 10 minutes but he couldn't make proper contact with the ball.
Here's how they lined up:    Cosmos: Modiba, Lingwati, Mthembu, Nsabiyumva, Zulu, Mdamba (Mntambo 55'), Kumalo, Sono Jnr (Madolo 66'), Macuphu (Mhomi 65'), Maluleke, Mashumba   Pirates: Mhlongo, Nyauza, Matlaba, Gcaba, Mahamutsa, Masalesa, Rakhale (Qalinge 70'), Makola (Ntshumayelo 87'), Myeni, Ndoro (Majoro 82'), Memela
