Golden Arrows reached the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after cruising to a 3-0 win over ABC Motsepe League outfit Tjakastad Junior Shepherds at the Mbombela Stadium.

The Mpumalanga-based side were making their debut in the last 32 of the competition and were looking to make a name for themselves, while Abafana Bes'thende were were aiming to gain traction under relatively new coach Steve Komphela.

Joao Moreira opened the scoring for the visitors in the sixth minute with a clinical finish after cutting through the Tjakastad defence.

It got better for Komphela's charges in the 24th minute when Nkosinathi Sibisi doubled the lead for after powering home a header inside the box following a clever short corner.

Tjakastad grew in the game towards the end of the first stanza, but they were unable to find a way past the Arrows defence in the latter stages of the first stanza.

Seven minutes after the break, Zolani Nkombelo added a third for the Absa Premiership outfit  side with a good finish at the near post after Tjakastad failed to clear their lines.

Arrows moved the ball around with ease in the remaining stages of the half as the third tier outfit failed to mount any clear-cut openings at the visitors' goals.

Nevertheless, 2-0 was how the score remained as Komphela's troops place their name in the hat for the round of 16 draw.
