Erasmus: I Told The Guys One Thing…

Barely two months after re-joining the club from Mamelodi Sundowns, Kermit Erasmus has managed to lift silverware with Orlando Pirates and now he has revealed what he told his teammates leading up to the big game.

The MTN8 podium is one that is familiar to Erasmus.

In the 2021/22 season, he stood atop it, although at the time it was in the yellow of Sundowns. Although he soon found himself on the periphery of the club, which ultimately led to his exit from Chloorkop.

It didn't take long for Erasmus to establish himself as a key figure of coach Jose Riveiro's side and he played a crucial part in the Buccaneers' 1-0 win over AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

After the match, an emotional Erasmus revealed his delight with winning the trophy for a second consecutive season, though this time victory tasted a bit sweeter for the Gelvandale-born star.

"To me it means the start of a new opportunity to do what I love doing again, where I love doing it – at a team that I love," Erasmus told Pirates media department.

Erasmus revealed the advice he gave to his Pirates teammates, some of whom have never been in a cup final before."To be able to do again, leading up to the game during the week the preparation was great, the mood in the team was great and I told the guys one thing, "make sure you give it your all, because you might not get this opportunity again" Read: Gallery: Bucs Celebrate First Trophy Under Riveiro With MTN8 Triumph"So for me, I'm just happy that I could have contributed to the team, to win this cup today, not only for myself and my family, but for the club, for the fans, for the president and his family. It's important that we continue contributing to the history of the club and this is a step in the right direction for the team. We are a new group of players and hopefully we can continue bringing more silverware to the club," he concluded.
