Cape Town City will now look to gear up for their upcoming encounter against SuperSport United in the 2017 MTN8 final, boosted by their Cape Town derby win.
City claimed a 2-0 Absa Premiership win over Ajax Cape Town last weekend, September 30, gaining the needed confidence boost and winning momentum going into their cup final against Matsatsantsa.

Speaking after the derby victory, City head coach, Benni McCarthy admitted that he would have liked the final to have been closer to their fixture against Ajax, in order for his team to maintain their winning form.
"It was super vital and important. If you lose this game and then the final seems really long away, but when it is a winning last match for you and then going into the break I think the players are more confident, they are in a nice environment because the last match that they can remember was a winning game."
"So I think it is a bit tough because you would have wanted guys to be in this kind of form, in this mentality that they now (are) and the finals are just around the corner instead of the lengthy break. But, we just have to keep working," McCarthy told the media on Saturday.
City will face SuperSport on Saturday, October 14 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, as both head coaches, McCarthy and Eric Tinkler look to clinch their first piece of silverware while at the helm of their respective teams.
