The Citizens missed out on lifting their first piece of silverware for the 2017/18 campaign on October 14, after suffering defeat in a penalty shootout against SuperSport United in the MTN8 final.

Head Coach Benni McCarthy's side is yet to regain their confidence and winning momentum, after suffering two consecutive defeats in the Absa Premiership following the loss in the final on October 14.

Speaking in a TKO press conference, City's team captain, Johannes admitted that he is still sulking over the loss, saying that he especially wanted to win it for his coach, McCarthy.

"I was sulking, I am still sulking. I won't even lie. Because we had it, I think, if we played badly or we didn't deserve to win it, you get over it quickly. But, the fact that I think we deserved to win it and we didn't, makes it a bitter pill to swallow," the 31-year-old told the media.

"But, like I say, we are professionals and we have to deal with it, look forward and make sure that we move on to better things ahead. Like I say, I am still dealing with it but I need to be a big boy and get over it.

"What makes it even harder for me to accept is that I wanted the coach to lift his first cup, I have been saying that since he got here. I want to see him succeed and I want to see him do well. So, that wasn't about me losing it, it was about me losing it. That tore me up even more,' the centre back revealed.
