Cape Town City head coach, Benni McCarthy, has congratulated the fans for turning up at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

City faced off against SuperSport United in the final of the MTN8 competition on Saturday, October 14, where thousands of fans from around Mzansi came out for the spectacle which ended in Matsatsantsa lifting the cup.
Despite losing out on clinching his first piece of silverware with the Mother City-based club, McCarthy has commended the support the South Africans showed on the day after the hectic weather and floods which took place in the City of Durban prior to the match.

"First of all, I just like to congratulate the fans for making this spectacular day. I think we played a great match of football but it was all down because after everything that happened in Durban (but) the last past weeks with the storms and people losing their lives, still a lot of people came out in numbers to support and for me that was the overall winner of the match," McCarthy said in a post-match press conference.
"So congratulations to South African fans for still making South African football believe that we are making steps in the right direction," he added.
