Promotion Race Wide Open After Durban City Loss

Highbury FC 1-0 Durban City

Motsepe Foundation Championship leaders Durban City suffered a 1-0 loss to Highbury FC at the Gelvandale Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The home side got the game's only goal in the first half courtesy of a strike from Mzoxolo Rafani, who took his tally to five league goals.

City have now missed the chance to move nine points clear at the top with five games to go, while Highbury have moved up to seventh place.

Meanwhile, Second-place Kruger United can close the gap to three points if they beat Black Leopards on Sunday.

Milford 2-1 University of Pretoria

Milford FC returned to winning ways in the Championship after defeating University of Pretoria 2-1 at the Princess Magogo Stadium

Goals from Siphosethu Ndlabi and Phakamani Ngxongo secured maximum points for the home side.

Samuel Julies netted for AmaTuks, who fall further away from the play-off spots.

Upington City 0-0 JDR Stars

JDR Stars' push for the play-offs suffered a knock after a goalless draw against Upington City on Saturday afternoon.

Stars missed the chance to move level with third-place Casric Stars and now sit two points adrift in fifth.

Upington, meanwhile, sit three points above the relegation zone in 13th position.

Venda Football Club 0-0 Hungry Lions

Venda Football Academy missed the chance to move out of the relegation zone following a 0-0 draw against Hungry Lions.

The hosts had a chance to win the game in second-half stoppage time but Rotonswa Mutsivhuli failed to convert a penalty.

As a result, VFC remain in 15th position, two points adrift of safety.

Friday, 13 April

Cape Town Spurs 0-0 Orbit College

Cape Town Spurs failed to pull clear of the relegation zone after a goalless draw with Orbit College at Athlone Stadium on Friday evening.

Orbit remain in fourth position after the draw, while the same goes for Spurs who are unchanged in 14th spot.

Casric Stars 1-1 Baroka FC

Casric Stars missed the chance to close in on the league leaders after drawing 1-1 with Baroka FC on Friday afternoon.

The home side too the lead through Decide Chauke in the 21st minute, before Kabelo Kgositsile levelled matters for the Limpopo outfit in the second half.

Stars, who are third, now sit six points behind Durban City with five matches to play.
