Spurs' Struggles Continue, Leopards Back In Promotion Hunt

Kruger United 1-0 Cape Town Spurs

Cape Town Spurs lost for the third time in four matches after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Kruger United on Sunday afternoon at Kanyamazane Stadium.

The Urban Warriors slipped down to tenth in the standings while Kruger remained in 14th spot, just one point above the drop zone.

University of Pretoria 3-2 Hungry Lions

Ten-man University of Pretoria picked up only their second win of the season after edging Hungry Lions in a five-goal thriller on Sunday afternoon at ABSA Tuks Stadium.

Samuel Julies broke the deadlock for AmaTuks midway into the first stanza but Muzomuhle Khanyi levelled matters for Lions moments later.

Khanyi sent the visitors ahead six minutes later but Tebogo Mohlamonyane equalised for the Tshwane side ten minutes into the second stanza.

Tshepang Makara gave AmaTuks the lead with 12 minutes remaining.

Tlisane Motaung's charges were down to ten men with nine minutes left after Julies was red-carded, however, the University side held on to end their five-game winless run.

The win took AmaTuks up to eight in the standings, one place and one point above Ditau Dia Rora.

Saturday, 28 October

Milford 3-0 Leruma United

Milford opened a two-point gap at the top of the table after a resounding 3-0 win over Leruma United on Saturday afternoon at Princess Magogo Stadium.

Nqaba Xulu opened the scoring for Milford after 19 minutes, doubled their lead and got his brace four minutes later.

Siyabonga Nzama put the game to bed for the Stallions with the third goal 20 minutes before time.

Leruma slipped down 13th on the log.

Casric Stars 2-3 Venda Football Academy

Casric Stars lost back-to-back matches after going down 3-2 against Venda Football Academy on Saturday afternoon at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Zebulon Motsweni broke the deadlock for Venda just after the hour-mark and Kgothatso Mariba doubled their lead three minutes later.

Lesego Sebetlela reduced the deficit for Casric moments later and Samukelo Sindane levelled matters four minutes before time.

However, Judas Moseamedi snatched the winner for Venda in added time.

Stars fell down to fifth on the log while a win for Venda maintained their 15th spot, after bottom side Highbury also won.

Pretoria Callies 1-0 Baroka

Baroka's winless run stretched to four games after a slender 1-0 loss against Pretoria Callies on Saturday afternoon at TUT Stadium.

The Romans leapfrogged Bakgaga up to 11th on the table on goal difference, as both sides are equal on nine points, with the Limpopo side dropping down to 12th.

Upington City 1-2 Orbit College

Upington City missed the chance to go top after a 2-1 loss to Orbit College on Saturday afternoon at Mxolisi Jacobs Stadium.

After a goalless first stanza, Siyabulela Mabele broke the deadlock for Orbit ten minutes into the second stanza and Simphiwe Ndlovu doubled their lead midway in the second-half.

Bokang Mokwena reduced the deficit for Upington nine minutes before time but the North West outfit held on to their third win in a row.

Bafana Ba Gucci dropped down to third on the log while Orbit jumped up to seventh.

Black Leopards 2-1 Durban City

Durban City could not maintain their top spot after going down 2-1 against Black Leopards on Saturday afternoon at Thohoyandou Stadium.

Leopards raced to a two-goal lead in the first stanza before Samkelo Maseko reduced the deficit on the stroke of half-time.

City dropped down to second on the log while Lidoda Duvha moved up to fourth, just a point behind The Team of Choice and three points off the top.

Friday, 26 October

Highbury 1-0 JDR Stars

JDR Stars missed the chance to go up to second in the standings after a narrow 1-0 loss to Highbury on Friday afternoon at Nelson Mandela University Stadium.

The sides could not be separated in the first stanza but Mzoxolo Rafani eventually broke the deadlock for Highbury with 18 minutes remaining and the Eastern Cape outfit held on to their first win of the season.

JDR slipped down to six on the log while Highbury remained at the bottom, three points from safety.
