BREAKING: Durban City Promoted, Spurs Relegated

Durban City have secured promotion to the Betway Premiership on the final day of the season.

Before the game, Spurs announced that they are playing the game under protest, claiming that City are fielding an ineligible player in Saziso Magawana.

Check out Durban City's celebrations in Cape Town.

City had to wait until the 44th minute for the opening goal when Ruzaigh Gamildien found the back of the net with a lovely header for his seventh goal of the season.

Ernst Middendorp's charges had chances to pull themselves, but they were denied by the woodwork on two occasions.

Spurs were unable to find a way past the City defece, as the hosts held on for the win to clinch Motsepe Foundation Championship title while Spurs have been relegated to the third tier.

While City have finished top of the table, the Premier Soccer League already confirmed this week that there will be no trophy handover due to a pending case.
