DStv Premiership Starting XI: SuperSport United v Mamelodi Sundowns 02 September 2022

Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United meet for the second time in the space of a few days when they do battle in the DStv Premiership this evening.

DStv Premiership

Teams: SuperSport United v Mamelodi Sundowns

Date: 02 September 2022

Venue: Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium

Time: 19h30

Sundowns progressed to the MTN8 semi-finals at the expense of SuperSport with a 2-0 win last weekend, although it took them the last ten minutes to break the deadlock.

The Brazilians will be looking to win back-to-back league matches for the first time this season after getting back to winning ways with a 3-0 thrashing of Stellenbosch the last time out.

Sundowns currently sit second on the table with 10 points, one point behind leaders Orlando Pirates and will move top if they clinch maximum points.

Cross-town neighbours, Matsatsantsa meanwhile, had a tough  start to the season and only picked up their first win after edging Richards Bay 1-0 just before meeting Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-finals.

Gavin Hunt's troops are placed 14th on the table with five points and a win could take them into the top eight before the weekend round of fixtures.

Matsatsantsa will still be without goalkeeper Ricardo Goss, Grant Margeman and Thabang Sibanyoni, as they are unable to feature against their parent club.

SuperSport will be looking to beat Sundowns in the league for the first time since April 2019.

Here's how they line up:

SuperSport United: Chigova, Dithlokwe, Hlatshwayo, Lungu, Bhasera, Nhlapo, Mbatha, Maseko, Johannes, Grobler, Rayners

Subs: Pule, Philipps, Rapoo, Donn, Maziko, Ngoma, Webber, Maswanganyi, Gabuza
