Piratesw were on a four-match winless run in all competitions before edging Diables Noirs 1-0 in the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round on Sunday afternoon.
However, the Buccaneers' three-match winless streak in the league still stands after they were held to a goalless draw by Maritzburg United the last time out and as a result, they dropped down to seventh on the log with ten points.
In contract, Royal have been in blistering form after winning four matches in a row before they were halted by Marumo Gallants in a 2-2 draw in their last fixture.
Thwihli Thwahla had to come back from two goals down against Gallants to rescue their unbeaten run and sit three points above Pirates in fifth place on the table.
