Mamelodi Sundowns will have a chance to go top of the DStv Premiership table when they visit Chippa United on Wednesday evening.
DStv Premiership
Teams: Chippa United v Mamelodi Sundowns
Date: 07 September 2022
Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium
Time: 19h30
Sundowns could not repeat what they did to SuperSport United in the MTN8 quarter-finals win, as the tables were turned in the league game after a 2-1 defeat last Friday in the Tshwane derby.
The loss against SuperSport was the Brazilians' second of the season as they dropped down to fifth on the table with ten points.
However, the defending champions could go top of the log for if they get back to winning ways, as Royal AM suffered defeat to Richards Bay, who are now top.
In comparison, Chippa have been struggling so far, with only one surprise victory over Orlando Pirates. The Chilli Boys have lost twice since beating Pirates, the last of which was a 3-2 defeat against Golden Arrows on Saturday.
Daine Klate's troops find themselves at the bottom of the log and another giant-killing act could lift them out of the relegation zone.
However, Sundowns are unbeaten against Chippa in the league since the Gqeberha-based side's promotion in 2012.
