Chippa have yet to pick up a win this season and suffered their first loss when they were beaten 2-1 at Golden Arrows on Saturday, August 24. The Chilli Boys' goal was scored by Boikanyo Komane, but they conceded a last-gasp goal to Arrows' Knox Mutizwa.

Polokwane were unable to claim three straight wins at the start of the season, as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Bidvest Wits on Wednesday, August 14. Nonetheless, two wins from three league outings represents a good start to the campaign for Rise and Shine.

In head-to-head stats, Chippa and Polokwane have met in 10 league matches since 2014/15. Rise and Shine have claimed four wins compared to two for the Chilli Boys, while four matches have been drawn. The Eastern Cape side has recorded one win, three draws and one defeat from five home matches in the rivalry.

Last season Chippa took four points off Polokwane, drawing 2-2 at home in December 2018 before claiming a 3-1 win in the Limpopo province (a first away triumph for them in the rivalry) in May 2019. Striker Rhulani Manzini scored in both matches for the Chilli Boys.
