Absa Premiership Starting XI: AmaZulu v Bidvest Wits 03 August 2019

Absa Premiership

Teams:  AmaZulu v Bidvest Wits

Date: 03 August 2019

Venue: King Zwelithini Stadium
AmaZulu and Bidvest Wits lock horns at the King Zwelithini Stadium in their Absa Premiership opener on Saturday evening.   The match is scheduled to get underway at 20h15.   AmaZulu finished outside of the top eight last season after going down 3-1 to Bloemfontein Celtic on the final day in the Free State.   The Students ended in third place, five points off the champions Mamelodi Sundowns, closing their campaign with a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows.   Wits have been busy in the transfer market, arguably more than any with 10 new arrivals which includes the likes of Brandon Petersen, Siyanda Zwane, Phathu Nange, Sameehg Doutie, Prince Nxumalo, Zitha Macheke, Carl Lark and Ivan Mahangwahaya.   Last season wasn't without drama for Usuthu, with a three point deduction earlier in the season putting Cavin Johnson's side on the back-foot. The KwaZulu Natal outfit rose from their troubles to bag 27 points at home to finish nine points off eight spot.   A topsy-turvy campaign for Wits resulted in 31 points on the road, whilst losing the corresponding fixture 2-0 last season.   The duo have met no less than 57 times in the league since 1985, with 22 victories going the way of Wits to Usuthu's 15 while 20 matches ended in draws.
