Bafana Bafana will be chasing victory at all costs when they host Zimbabwe in their penultimate 2022 World Cup Group G qualifier.
Teams: South Africa v Zimbabwe
Date: 11 November 2021
Venue: FNB Stadium
Time: 21h00
Bafana have the destiny of reaching the final round of qualification in their own hands as they top Group G with ten points, one point ahead of second-placed Ghana.
Hugo Broos' charges are the only unbeaten side in the group and boosted their chances of reaching the play-off round with three successive victories, as they beat the Black Stars at home and secured backt-to-bacak wins over Ethiopia.
Bafana will be without striker Victor Letsoalo, who is suspended for this clash, hence Broos named a 24-man squad with an additional player.
However, two players have been forced out of the squad due to injuries, Sifiso Hlanti and Yusuf Maart and they have been replaced by Tercious Malepe and Jesse Donn.
In contrast, Zimbabwe are out of the running for qualification with three successive defeats, the two losses on the bounce against Ghana in the last FIFA schedule were particularly damaging.
The Warriors are the only nation without a victory in the group with one point at the bottom and will be playing not only for pride but they are already preparing for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in January, under the tutelage of new coach Norman Mapeza.
Zimbabwe will be without former Kaizer Chiefs players, Knowledge Musona and Teenage Hadebe due to injuries, although Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has been included in the team after missing the first round clash.
