Gallants Coach Responds To Talk Of Time-Wasting Against Chiefs

Gallants Coach Responds To Talk Of Time-Wasting Against Chiefs

Marumo Gallants coach Raymond Mdaka has responded to claims his team resorted to time-wasting tactics in the second half against Kaizer Chiefs.

Gallants remain without a win in the DStv Premiership after drawing 1-1 with the Soweto giants at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

With the Gallants down to 10 men, Mdaka admitted that they needed to delay Chiefs' momentum in the closing stages of the contest.

"I wouldn't say but when you feel the fire, you need something to cool that fire otherwise you'll burn your fingers," Mdaka told SuperSport after the game.

"So you need to get a way of, like Chiefs was coming and then you have to at least reduce their pace with these small little things so that you can be fine. If you go all out when they are on top of you chances are you may lose it."

Mdaka was also disappointed to see Gallants throw away another lead as their search for a first victory goes on.

"Ja well a bit disappointed because regardless of the red card I think this has been the story that has been going on for a number of games," Mdaka added.

"We lead, then we concede and the kind of goals that we concede are those that we say lousy goals sort of, so it's frustrating a bit.

"Much as we can try to play well, the most important thing is to get the three points, once you don't get the three points, you're always languishing at the bottom of the log.

"Players cannot express themselves that much freely because you're playing under pressure almost every time and it should not get into our minds to say.

"We always lead and concede, lead and concede but what a game I can say. I don't want to blame the red-card, the red card is part of the game, we need to man it [up] when we have the red-card and be able to maintain what we have. That's why I feel like it [first win] was just around the corner here."
