Mamelodi Sundowns club ambassador Tiyani Mabunda is expecting the club to live up to the standard they have set in the CAF Champions League, as their latest campaign begins this weekend away from home.
Sundowns' 2021/22 Champions League campaign begins in Congo with a clash against Maniema Union, a first meeting between the two sides in this competition.
Mabunda, who brought an end to his playing career at the end of last season and is now under the wing of Downs' veteran official Alex Shakoane, says have set a standard of trying to reach the final of the Champions League every time they play in the competition.
"It's never easy to go away in the Champions League. Over the years, we have been growing in confidence and the current squad is showing signs of excellence," Mabunda told media at a MTN8 event in Johannesburg, where the venue for the final of the competition was announced.
"I know the boys have the experience that they need to make sure that they go into this campaign with a different approach, which is to no longer to think about ending any where within the group stages or anywhere in the knockout stages, but to go all the way and make sure that we win the cup. I am expecting the guys to live up to the bar that they have set for themselves.
