Downs To Initiate Sirino Contract Talks

The Siya crew has been led to believe that the future of Gaston Sirino is up for discussion at Mamelodi Sundowns, with the club evaluating who will fill their foreign spots next season.

In recent weeks, this publication has reported on the possible departure of Erwin Saavedra from Chloorkop after the Bolivian international has struggled with injuries and competition, and it appears Sirino is another who will have to wait and see what happens in the coming weeks.

The Uruguayan signed a five-year deal with the Brazilians in 2020. It's a three-year deal with an option to extend for one season twice.

The 32-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the starting line-up at the Tshwane giants, who are currently in the CAF Champions League semi-finals. Previously a target of Egyptian giants Al Ahly, he has made 25 appearances in all competitions, 19 of which have been in the league.

The former Bolivar player, who joined the side in 2018 under former coach Pitso Mosimane, has made 10 starts in the league and has come on as a substitute on nine occasions.

There are a few other players at Sundowns who look set to make an exit at the end of June. The likes of Gift Motupa, Lesedi Kapinga and Katlego Mohamme are believed to be heading out.

Most of the players who are out on loan are also not expected to make a return to the club, as Sundowns are preparing to bring in a few new faces next season in an effort to go for their seventh consecutive title.
