However, Sundowns do have two games in hand compared to Pirates, who are just one point ahead of them, while log leaders Kaizer Chiefs have also played one more game more than Masandawana, leading the Brazilians by 10 points.
Head Coach Pitso Mosimane's side will resume league action action against Chippa United on February 15, with four players at risk of missing the encounter.
Hlompho Kekana, Mosa Lebusa, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Wayne Arendse are all on three yellow card bookings. This means that should either of these players pick up another booking this weekend against SuperSport in the Nedbank Cup, they will be suspended for the clash against Chippa.
