Adams Secured, Sundowns Eye Their Next Target

Adams Secured, Sundowns Eye Their Next Target

Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly eyeing a defender as their next transfer target, following their recent signing of midfielder Jayden Adams from Stellenbosch FC.

Keanu Cupido, who has been one of the most consistent performers for Cape Town City, is understood to be a top priority for Sundowns as they look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the second half of the season.

The 26-year-old defender has made a name for himself with his commanding presence in the heart of defence, showcasing excellent tackling, aerial ability, and a knack for reading the game.

However, Cupido is currently nursing an injury, and in his absence, City have relied on the pairing of Nathan Fasika and Lorenzo Gordinho as their preferred centre-back duo. This shift in defensive partnerships could be an indication that Cape Town City are preparing for life without the former Diambars Academy man, especially as Sundowns' interest in him continues to grow.

Sundowns, under the guidance of new coach Miguel Cardoso, have been busy in the transfer market, with their recent acquisition of Adams marking the first of what could be several signings aimed at bolstering the squad. The club has long been known for its ability to attract top talent, and Cupido's potential move would add more quality to their already formidable defence.

With Sundowns competing on multiple fronts, including the Betway Premiership and CAF Champions League, Cupido's arrival could offer much-needed depth to their backline.

While Cape Town City has shown a reluctance to part with key players, Sundowns' financial strength and their status as one of South Africa's top clubs could make them a challenging proposition for any player looking to further their career. Cupido's potential move to Sundowns would see him join an array of experienced stars and could be the perfect opportunity to continue his development while competing for major trophies.

The timing of the potential transfer is crucial, as Sundowns look to build on their strong start to the season and prepare for a busy fixture list ahead. With Miguel Cardoso's tactical approach seeking to strengthen every area of the squad, Cupido's addition would further solidify Sundowns' ambitions to remain dominant both domestically and continentally.
