Mbule Tipped To Play In The Club World Cup

Sipho Mbule during the Betway Premiership match between Sekhukhune United and Golden Arrows at Peter Mokaba Stadium on 28 September 2024 in Polokwane, South Africa.

The FIFA Club World Cup is just a few months away and Sipho Mbule's inclusion in the Mamelodi Sundowns team remains a big possibility.

According to agent Mike Makaab, Sundowns have an option in Mbule's contract. This gives the player a bit more time to impress Miguel Cardoso, who will be given an opportunity to build his squad for next season.

The 26-year-old has been in fine form while on loan to Sekhukhune United this season and it's quite clear that he is enjoying his football again.

Mbule joined Sundowns in 2022 from Tshwane rivals SuperSport United, penning a three-year deal, with an option to extend the contract. With 11 appearances this season, Mbule is enhancing his chances of making a return to Chloorkop.

"Sundowns have an option on his contract, which I have little doubt they will exercise. I think the important thing is that Sundowns have a new coach and it will depend upon how he sees Sipho's future going forward. What we cannot afford is Sipho not to play. It's been proven that when he plays, and plays regularly, that's when you find him at his best. We are just going to have to take this one step at a time," Makaab said to the Siya crew.

"At the moment, the focus is on him doing all he can to help Sekhukhune and then we will take it one step at a time. We will wait for Sundowns to make a decision on the option and then we will take it from there. They have until the end of May. I am very happy with his progress at Sekhukhune. If you look at the way Sundowns are playing, it might suit Sipho."

Sekhukhune are open to keeping the midfielder beyond this season, while Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be monitoring the situation, but it will be determined by what Sundowns decide.
