With a few weeks left before the end of the season, Mamelodi Sundowns' versatile player Rivaldo Coetzee may have two challenges to overcome.
The talented Coetzee has struggled with injury this season after a promising start to the campaign under former coach Manqoba Mngqithi, but is believed to be closer to making a return to action, though there's not much time left in the campaign.

The player's contract with Sundowns is due to expire at the end of June, but they have an option to extend for another campaign. Sundowns have a deadline of end of May to make a decision on Coetzee.
Another challenge for Coetzee is that Sundowns are in a crucial period of the season, with the Betway Premiership and CAF Champions League titles within touching distance, so head coach Miguel Cardoso could focus more on players who have been playing, rather than those who are just making a return to action.
Coetzee may not get an opportunity to prove himself to Cardoso in an official match before the end of the campaign, but that won't necessarily close the door on his future with the club. A decision on Coetzee's future is set to be announced in the coming weeks.
