Mamelodi Sundown's acquisition of Chippa United defender Zuko Mdunelywa came as a bit of a surprise and now the coach has given his insight into why the 22-year-old was roped in.

With two Bafana Bafana internationals in Khuliso Mudau and Thapelo Morena competing for a right back berth at the Brazilians, it came as a surprise that Sundowns dipped into the transfer market to rope in another right back.
However, Mokwena revealed that he does not in fact view Morena as a right back.
Rather, we have seen in past games that the speedster is deployed in a more advanced role, particularly used off the bench as an impact substitute, which could be a role he will occupy in the near future.
"The challenge is that in almost every other position we've got two players except the right-back and we've only got Mudau. We've got Thapelo but my feelings about Thapelo 's position is completely different to what I think. I don't think Thapelo in the way we play when I envisage the team is a right back," he told journalists after his side's goalless draw to Polokwane City.
"When I envisage the team, when I look at the team, he doesn't fit into right back in my mind and so it's been very difficult also to rest Mudau or to play without Mudau when he's suffered from injuries so Zuko, we followed a little bit.
"A lot of credit must go to the scouting department and our sporting director and his assistant and the data department and also to the technical team and the coaches for the work that they've done in and analyzing and then the club for securing a talent that I think is very promising," he said.
Mdunyelwa, 22, has managed an impressive 14 appearances in all competitions for Chippa United this season.
