New Sundowns Signing: 'If I Was Scared...'

New Sundowns Signing: 'If I Was Scared...'

New Mamelodi Sundowns player Asekho Tiwani says he would have stayed at Sekhukhune United if he was scared of competition at Chloorkop.

Currently in the national under-20 team for the upcoming friendly matches against Lesotho, Tiwani expressed delight at joining the Premiership champions and believes the club would not have signed him if they did not feel he was good enough to be part of the team.

The 19-year-old is yet to make his official debut for the club, but is likely to get valuable game with the national under-20s, who play Lesotho on Friday and again on Sunday.

With loads of competition at left back in the likes of Terrence Mashego and Divine Lunga, Tiwani is prepared to roll up his sleeves and fight to get into the team.

"It was confirmed when I was in pre-season with Sekhukhune. I was not aware of it, so my agent told me about it. It's going well and I am happy. There is a lot that I am still going to learn and be a better player, so I am happy. It's a nice place - the training facilities, The team is united and we assist each other where we lack. My teammates are right and the coaches are right. I am happy the move happened," Tiwani told media.

"I am determined to fight. I am not scared. If was I scared, then I would have stayed at Sekhukhune. I know the potential I have and they signed me for a reason. I will push so that I make the coaches happy and that I get into the team that plays. It's a blessing because not everybody gets an opportunity to play for Sundowns. It's one of the best teams in Africa and I will appreciate the talent God has given me. I would not be here without God and my parents and the people around me. People may think it's too early (to join Sundowns), but I am ready."
