Maema is currently with South Africa's African Nations Championship (CHAN) squad, leading them as captain, and will be joining a new club after the competition which is currently being co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder has been linked with a move to Tanzanian giants Simba SC, and that could be announced soon. He has also been linked with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in the past.
During his time at Sundowns, Maema won four Premiership titles. He was also part of the side that won the Nedbank Cup, MTN8 and African Football League. He made 120 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and providing 14 assists.

Since the departure of Rulani Mokwena, Maema struggled for game time, hardly getting a look in due to tough competition for places at Sundowns. He now has an opportunity to start afresh and get his career back on track.
On top of the three exits this week, Sundowns have also parted ways with Rivaldo Coetzee, Sipho Mbule, Sanele Tshabalala, Lebohang Maboe, Thabang Sibanyoni, Sifiso Ngobeni, Rushine de Reuck and Lucas Suarez. Kobamelo Kodisang has been loaned out.
