Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reported that the 25-year-old playmaker has already arrived in Greece to undergo medical examinations before putting pen to paper on a one-year loan deal, which includes an option to purchase at the end of the spell.
These rumours mean that Esquivel’s potential move would come after an 18-month stint at Sundowns, where his technical ability and vision in midfield added depth to the club’s attacking options.
While he didn’t feature regularly as a starter, he still managed 16 appearances across all competitions in the past two seasons.
In the 2024/25 campaign, Esquivel played in the Betway Premiership (1 appearance), the Nedbank Cup (2 appearances), and was part of the squad for the CAF Champions League. The previous season (2023/24) was more active for the midfielder, registering 9 Betway Premiership appearances, scoring 1 goal, and contributing to the club’s domestic and continental campaigns.
He also featured in 3 Nedbank Cup matches, scoring once and assisting once.
