Mamelodi Sundowns With Face-Off With Jwaneng Galaxy In The Second Preliminary Round Of The CAF Champions League Competition

Mamelodi Sundowns will get their CAF Champions League journey underway later this month and their first opponents have since been confirmed.

After being crowned champions of the 2019/20 Premiership, Sundowns were handed a bye for the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League competition, though had to await confirmation of who they will meet in the second round.

Jwaneng Galaxy defeated Zilimadjou 5-1 on aggregate in the first round and it's been confirmed that the Botswana side will lock horns with Sundowns in the second preliminary showdown of the Champions League competition.

The Brazilians will play away to Galaxy between 22-23 December and thereafter welcome them to Mzansi for the second leg in the new year around 5-6 January.

Sundowns have been in stellar form since the start of the 2020/21 domestic season, wherein they currently top the DStv Premiership standings and will be eager to carry on their run as they look to challenge for continental honours under the mentorship of Manqoba Mngqithi, Rulani Mokwena and Steve Komphela.
