With Mailula's impressive form which has seen him rack up 14 goals and four assists in 22 matches for Sundowns this season, much talk has been about a possible move to Europe where he could follow in the footsteps of Keagan Dolly, Bongani Zungu and Percy Tau who all made their way to Europe after succeeding at Sundowns.
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos recently weighed in on whether or not the 21-year-old was ready for a move to Europe, revealing that Mailula needed one more season under coach Rulani Mokwena's tutelage at Sundowns.
For all that has been said about him, Mailula has finally broken his silence on the matter.
"I have a lot of learning and growing to do, so I'm not too pressured on an overseas move. I'm just taking it in my stride," he said speaking to SAFA's media department.
"I want to enjoy scoring, it is what I love and for as long as I'm in the national set up or with my team I will apply myself, I know that I'm still a young player with promise," he said.
Apart from the talk of Europe, Mailula could potentially make his debut for his country against Liberia on Friday, a challenge that he is relishing.
"I know this is big for me, I understand the pressure that comes with it and I'm open to learning as I go along. I won't be too hard on myself knowing that this is my first call-up, but I am going to push hard and give it my best. It is why I'm here. I too am dreaming of the AFCON come January next year," he added.
