Mamelodi Sundowns added another historic chapter to their dominant era in the Premier Soccer League with a 2-0 win over Cape Town City on Saturday evening, a result that not only extended their league lead but also triggered a wave of record-breaking milestones.

With the result, the Brazilians became the first team in PSL history to score more than 50 goals after just 24 matches in a single season.
They now boast 54 goals, with six fixtures still remaining, highlighting their relentless attacking force under head coach Miguel Cardoso.
Sundowns also recorded 20 or more league wins for a third successive season. To put that into perspective, during the first 20 PSL campaigns with a 16-team format, that level of consistency had only been achieved three times — twice by Sundowns and once by Kaizer Chiefs.
The Pretoria giants have now matched that record by themselves in just three years.
Despite Orlando Pirates' earlier victory in the Soweto Derby, Sundowns' latest victory over a struggling Cape Town City outfit keeps them firmly on course to secure yet another league title.
