Promotion Race: Durban City Secure Big Win

JDR Stars 0-3 Durban City

Durban City cemented top spot in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with a 3-0 win over JDR Stars on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors took the lead in the first half courtesy of a strike from veteran forward Ruzaigh Gamildien.

Joslin Kamatuka doubled City's lead with his 13th league goal of the season, while Tshanini Falakhe rounded off the scoring.

The win has moved City three points clear at the top of the table with three games to play.

Orbit College kept their promotion hopes alive with a vital 1-0 win over Baroka FC on Saturday afternoon.

Gomolemo Khoto scored the only goal of the game to secure maximum points on home soil.

Simon Moukete popped up with a brace for the home side to secure the victory.

Kruger United remain in the hunt for the play-offs after securing a 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Leruma United.

Thulani Ndlela secured the winning goal for the home side, who are now in fifth spot, level on points with third-place Casric Stars.

Pretoria Callies 2-1 Hungry Lions

Pretoria Callies made it back-to-back wins in the Championship after defeating Hungry Lions 2-1.

Goals from Olerato Mandi and Sibongakonke Mgwaba sealed the victory for the home side.

Upington 0-1 Milford FC

Upington City missed the chance to pull clear of the relegation zone after losing 1-0 to Milford FC.

The defeat sees Upington remain in 14th spot, level on points with 15th-placed Cape Town Spurs.

Cape Town Spurs fell into the relegation zone after losing 1-0 to University of Pretoria 1-0 on Friday evening at Athlone Stadium.

Ernst Middendorp's have now dropped to 15th spot heading into the final two games of the campaign.

Highbury FC 1-1 Venda Football Club

Venda Football Club claimed a vital point on the road after drawing 1-1 with Highbury FC on Friday afternoon.

The point has Venda sitting in 13th spot, but they are level on points with Spurs while Highbury find themselves in 10th spot.
