The Siya crew has been led to believe that one of Mamelodi Sundowns' national team stars is close to making a return to the matchday squad.
Defender Mothobi Mvala has been absent from the matchday squad since the start of the season while he was recovering from injury. The player returned to training a few weeks ago and has been working his way back into contention for a place in the matchday squad.

Head coach Manqoba Mngqithi recently told media that the Bafana Bafana defender is close to making a return and it's believed he is knocking on the door for selection, having been training well with the team in recent times.
Mvala's absence has not only been a concern at Sundowns, but at national team level as well. Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos spoke of how much he regretted not having the former Highlands Park player in his squad for the last two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan. He has been a key part of the national team and his return will no doubt put a smile on Broos' face, with more important qualifiers still to come for the squad.

The challenge for Mvala, however, will be breaking into the starting line-up. Sundowns have looked solid at the back since the disappointment of being knocked out of the MTN8, with Mosa Lebusa, Grant Kekana and Rivaldo Coetzee getting most of the opportunities to play in central defence.
Mvala will need to work hard to get his way back into the starting line-up, having previously been a regular under former coach Rulani Mokwena.
Sundowns visit Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium in the Betway Premiership tomorrow afternoon, determined to maintain their 100 percent start to the season so far.
