Mamelodi Sundowns do not want to use Royal Bafokeng Stadium for their upcoming CAF Champions League clash against Al Ahly and are already looking at finding another venue, according to co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi.
Sundowns hosted their first Group A match, against Sudanese outfit Al Hilal, in the North West. The three venues Sundowns put forward to CAF - Loftus Stadium, Lucas Moripe Stadium and Tuks Stadium, did not meet the standards set out by Africa's football governing body.
Mngqithi confirmed that they are awaiting feedback from CAF as they are not keen on playing another group match at Royal Bafokeng.
"We are looking at trying other stadiums for the Ahly game, based on the condition that Royal Bafokeng was last time round. At this stage, nothing is confirmed. But we are hopeful that we will play that game somewhere else, except Royal Bafokeng. It's just a matter of time before CAF responds to our wish and we will then take it from there," Mngqithi told media after his side's 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy on Wednesday night.
Sundowns are top of the standings in Group A on seven points after three points. The Chloorkop side will be looking to complete a double over the Champions League holders after a historical victory for the first time in Al Ahly's backyard in Cairo this past Saturday.
