A potential ownership change at one PSL club could create an unexpected transfer opportunity for the league champions, with a highly-rated defender possibly available without a transfer fee due to contractual circumstances.
The situation involves multiple parties and unique timing, with the defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns understood to be positioning themselves to benefit from a period of transition at SuperSport United.

Insiders close to all the involved parties and privy to reliable information have indicated that the Brazilians could sign Ime Okon.
The insiders added that the transfer could take place without a fee to SuperSport United although there is interest from another Betway Premiership side as well as clubs in Europe.
"There are two situations which are putting Sundowns at an advantage to sign Ime Okon for free. They are one of the clubs interested in him and he is believed to become a free agent at the end of the season as he has apparently not yet signed a new contract with SuperSport United. And also if SuperSport United are sold and become Bloemfontein Celtic then all those players whose contracts are coming to an end are free to leave and join clubs of their choice. So, Sundowns are in the forefront to sign Okon for free," the insider told the Siya crew.
Though, it remains to be seen if SuperSport will eventually be sold to Celtic, as such a possibility has only been reported and not confirmed yet.
A second source stated that although Sundowns are working on cutting down their squad, they are also looking at beefing up in different departments including the defence.
"The club wants to have a well-balanced squad next season. Once again they will have a long, tough and tight season which needs good cover in all departments and they are looking at Okon as one player to add in defence though they are also working on cutting down their squad," the second insider revealed.
