How Much Mamelodi Sundowns Will Get For CAF Champions League Quarterfinal Exit

How Much Mamelodi Sundowns Will Get For CAF Champions League Quarterfinal Exit

Mamelodi Sundowns may have been knocked out of the CAF Champions League over the weekend, but they bow out with a handsome amount of money made from reaching the last eight of the competition.

Sundowns were determined to reach the semi-finals after getting knocked out in the last eight of the previous two editions of the Champions League, but they were unable to get the job done yet again this year, as their campaign was ended by a persistent Petro de Luanda of Angola, who won the clash 3-2 on aggregate.

Sundowns have always mentioned that they are building a team to conquer Africa, but they are going to have to wait a little longer before getting their hands on the biggest prize in club football on the continent. But they did not exit the competition empty handed.

For reaching the quarterfinals of the competition, Sundowns will pocket $650 000 (R10.1 million), having already bagged R8 million earlier in the season for winning the MTN8.

They look set to win the DStv Premiership, which comes with a prize money of R15 million, while they are still in the running to win the R7 million prize money in the Nedbank Cup.
