Freese had worked with Mokwena at the then Highlands Park youth set-up and stated what it has taken for a youthful Mokwena to work his way to where he is now.
In a one-on-one interview, the former Platinum Stars coach stated how Mokwena taught himself to improve his own work.
"It's not surprising for me to see where he (Rulani Mokwena) is. We worked together in the development of Highlands Park before, where he really put in a lot of work to prove himself. He has done a lot personally to improve himself as a coach," Freese told the Siya crew.
"And he is a very approachable somebody. And he gets on well with people. So where he is now is not surprising for me," Freese said.
Freese went on to then discuss how Mokwena took extra time to learn about the game, as the South African football fraternity is aware how the Brazilians coach is inspired by developments in European football, particularly those employed by the likes of Pep Guardiola.
"He took time to improve his coaching education. So you put in the time you get what comes to you and what you deserve. So, for me it's not surprising to see him where he is and he has done well.
"I know he will achieve even more than what he has achieved now because he teaches himself and learns a lot about coaching all the time," Freese concluded.
