Ex-Downs picks three DStv Prem top performers

Njabulo Ngcobo - Defender of the Season

With just six matchdays left of the 2020/21 DStv Premiership campaign, the debate on the end of season awards has began, with former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Phelelani Ntshangase weighing in on his choices.

The signing of Peter Shalulile has reaped good results for Masandawana as they aim for a fourth consecutive league title, and Ntshangase believes the Namibian striker is undoubtedly his choice for Player of the Season for his consistent perfomance, while Denis Onyango should walk away with Goalkeeper of the Season.

"Player of the season should be Peter Shalulile, looking at how many games (in which) he has performed and how many Man of the Match awards he has managed to scoop; and his scoring as well," Ntshangase tells the Siya crew.

"Goalkeeper, Denis Onyango his been consistent in the league, looking as well at the position where Sundowns is at."

Swallows stunned oppponents during the first half of the season, with Njabulo Ngcobo leading their defence and Ntshangase feels the defender deserves to rewarded.

"Defender of the Season (should to go to) Ngcobo for Swallows. He is underrated but one of the best defenders in the league and is the core of the Swallows defence," he added.
